20 - Return to the Village

When the party return to the village, Lucius is in a bit of a bind. He has been cornered by an angry guy and his henchmen, who claim that he owes him money (true). The situation seems to be on the verge of escalation.

At this point, the party may well join in to beat Lucius up, or they may de-escalate in order to get their reward. Lucius is somewhat broke. He could pay his debt, but then he can't pay the party. Or he can pay the party but not his debt.

The situation is tense, but can be resolved with a bit of diplomacy or violence. The henchmen have no desire to be hanged over some coins, and their goal is to rough Lucius up a bit so he pays his debt, not more.

Justice ?

Bringing Lucius to justice has a small chance - the party would be in in desperate position. Justice at this time was mostly based on reputation and the characters are strangers.
