The younger son had a mental breakdown following the gruesome death of his entire family, some of which he witnessed.

He was eventually found by a farmer wandering near a village a day's travel away, who took pity on him. Thanks to this kindness, Gregorius eventually recovered, but his memory of his past remains fragmented and large parts are missing entirely. He also freezes up at the sight of fire or the sound of loud noises. Needless to say, that makes his life difficult as bonfires, cooking fires, fireplaces and torches are the primary sources of light and heat.

If the characters can handle a broken, scared man, he is willing to accompany them back, with his primary motivation being to regain his memory and his past. He is not much interested in luxury or wealth, and doesn't have the means to rebuild the villa. His future is uncertain at this point, but he just may be able to pull himself together and make it work.
