Inside - Central

Atrium

The Atrium was once a central area of the house, with a small water feature in the center and marble benches around, some of which are still there, broken but recognizable, while others are buried under rubble.

Illusion

As you enter the Atrium, the rubble and ruin is replaced with fine tapestries and mosaic floor. Across the room, you can see Lucius - slightly younger but clearly him - argue with an older man who looks much like him.
"Father!", he says, loudly
"Silence!", the father hollers, "I will not stand for this kind of behaviour from my son. Go and undo what you have done!"
"I shall not!"
The older man steps closer to his son and looks him dead in the eyes: "Your father commands it."
"Or what?", Lucius replies.
The father is taken aback. But his gaze does not sway and after a few seconds he says, with a very stern but calm voice: "Or I will disown you and banish you from this home. You have until tomorrow, or you are no longer my son."
The vision fades, and the ruined Atrium returns.
(If the party has been to the Inside - West > Apsidal Hall before, they will recognize the father as the man at the desk.)

Peristyle

The central part of the villa is a classical courtyard surrounded by columns. It was once a beautiful place, and some pieces of furniture and decorations remain. As it was open to the sky, it has less damage than other parts of the house where the roof caved in, and it has since become overgrown, the once carefully kept inside garden replaced by wild bushes and flowers.

Illusion

As you enter the inside courtyard of the village, another ghostly illusion replaces the ruins and rubble with its former glory and beauty.
All around, the fire is raging. An elderly servant is running past you, coming face to face with a robed figure coming out of the southern exit. The figure has a torch in one hand.
"But...", the servant stammers, "You? Why?" then he slumps to the ground, and the figure runs off, fading away as it crosses the garden. Blood runs out of the servant's wound where the dagger is left in him.
As the illusion fades out, you find a skeleton, still with a dagger stuck between its ribs, on the floor.

Upon inspection, the dagger is an ornamental piece, with the Valerius family sigil in the handle. The sigil is visible in various places around the villa and the party will quickly recognize it for what it is.
