Inside - South

The area south of the Inside - Central > Atrium is where a small band of local bandits have made camp.
If the bandits are alerted that the party is coming, they will move into cover in their camp in the Exedra (room 1) and will wait for an opportunity to surprise the party. See The Bandits for stats and details.

Tablinum

The tablinum is a ruin, with remains of furniture and parts of the collapsed roof making it difficult to move about. The characters will have to climb over rubble in order to make their way through this room. If they do this without caring for stealth, they will certainly make enough noise to alert the bandits further south. If they care for stealth, have each of the characters make a mental (stealth) roll. One or more bad outcomes will also alert the bandits.

Exedra

This round room, which was once a large office and meeting room for the house's business has been transformed into a bandit camp. The walls here are still standing and most of the roof is still there, minus some holes, so it makes for a well-sheltered place. The windows are boarded up so the bandits can have a fire going without it being visible outside.

There is a fireplace in the center with a large pot and other cooking items, a couple of bedrolls and makeshift beds around the room as well as numerous bags, barrels and boxes with the bandits equipment and stolen goods. As they are mediocre at best at their profession, it isn't much. The party can loot a total of 3 coins if they kill or drive off the bandits.

There is also a family portrait on one wall, showing father, mother, Lucius, Gregorius and daughter Valeria.

Cubiculum 3 - Sleeping Room

This is the sleeping and private room of Lucius. It is partially intact, with only a small section of the roof collapsed inside, burying a small table and two chairs in a corner that served as a small sitting area.
In the opposite corner is a bed. The doorway to the west leads into a dressing room where Lucius' clothes were kept. This room is in worse shape, but some pieces of clothing are still left. From the ashes and what is left it seems that at the time of the fire a part of it was empty.

illusion

As you enter this small room, it transforms into its former glory, with the roof intact and the room illuminated by two oil lamps.
Lucius is sitting on the bed, his head in his hands, obviously antagonizing over something. He looks haunted, uncertain and seemingly arguing with himself. He is dressed in a robe as if he just came from outside or is dressed for going outside.
As you come closer, you can make out individual words in his muttering. "Qualem blennum!" (what an idiot) and "mastigia" (a common insult, originally a greek word) can be heard, as well as "sicut carcer" (like a prison) and "fututus et mori in igni" (fuck off and die in a fire).
Slowly, as Lucius keeps on mumbling to himself, the vision fades.

If the party already witnessed the illusion of The Ghost of Elara, they will recognise the robes Lucius is wearing as that of the figure there.

Triclinium - Dining Room

The room is badly burnt and nothing but rubble remains. The remains inside make it difficult to make out what this room was for.

illusion

Immediately upon entering the room, it shimmers and shows up in its old splendor. It's the early evening, and the sun is slowly setting. The family gathers in this triclinium, a luxurious dining room adorned with exquisite mosaics, frescoes, and elegant furnishings.
The parents, are seated at the center of the triclinium, each on their own kline (dining couch). The klines are arranged around a low, ornate table, where the sumptuous dinner is about to be served. The klines are angled slightly so that they can recline while dining, following the custom of Roman banquets.
Lucius sits on his own kline to the right of his father, while his younger brother Gregorius takes his place on the left. The daughter, Valeria, gracefully occupies the end of her mother's kline, as it is customary for unmarried daughters to be chaperoned by their mothers.
It is the start of the dinner and slaves bring in platters laden with an array of dishes of Roman cuisine. There are appetizers like olives, figs, and honey-glazed nuts to whet the family's appetite. They also bring in the main course, which is roasted meat with spices, herbs and sauces, accompanied by vegetables and baked bread.
For this time, this is a lavish meal. It might pale in comparison to the height of the Roman Empire, but it is quite obvious that the family is wealthy.
(everyone roll social, and on a success, they notice:)
As they begin eating, they exchange small talk about the day, though you notice that Lucius does not partake in the conversation, quietly eating his food. His mother and sister try to get him into the conversation, but his father quite obviously shows him the cold shoulder, ignoring him completely.

The Bandits

There is one bandit leader and as many ordinary bandits as there are characters in the party.
The bandit leader has physical 3, mental 2. He has a light armour, a shield and a sword.
The other bandits have physical 2 and the melee detail, mental 2. Half of them have light armour and axes or clubs, while the other half has no armour, bows and knives.
None of the bandits have any magical abilities.
