The village lies nestled in in the forests of Basco, not far from the market town of [[Saronale]]. It is a fairly isolated place with plenty of fields for grains and vegetables around. A bit of hunting and trapping completes the village life, which has a relatively low amount of animals, mostly chickens and geese.

Amata is most well known for the ancient graveyards in the forest towards the west of the village. Those graves which can still be made out mark burial dates from four and more centuries ago, but Amata has only existed for about 250 years. Nobody knows who made those graveyards nor are there signs of a settlement close to them. Numerous conflicting local legends claim to know the truth.
