It lies just inside the forest, looking out over the grasslands towards the [[Gatfield]] river. In addition to about 150 priests and initiates, there are more than a hundred craftsmen, farmers and servants who supply and support the monastery, which can in an emergency feed itself for a short time with the crops and livestock it controls and the supplies it has stored.
