Friedmarkt is small market place in the western parts of Colle in Biesen with a population of about 400. For all of recorded history, there has been a settlement of some kind in this location. Sometimes a hamlet, sometimes just a wayside inn, but Friedmarkt is old, very old. In its current form, it started arising almost 400 years ago, with the market being placed on a small hill near the crossroads, a perfect location. An inn soon followed, and then houses for those working the market, and then farms and the rest is history.
It is a small place, by population no bigger than a village, but it has market rights and sees quite a bit of travellers passing through. No comparison with the larger towns, of course, but for the surrounding villages, Friedmarkt is where things happen.
