The capital of Deracussa used to be a large city of over 10,000 inhabitants until the siege of 69 BV essentially wiped out the city. Today it is a ruined husk with less than a fifth of its previous population. Entire sections of the city are uninhabited and fallen into ruin, mostly the ones that were razed to the ground in 69 BV anyways.
The Derac family, after whom the city is named, still have their seat here, despite most of the power and glory of the house long gone. Their river fortress - the Kaliamum flows through the northern quartes of Deracussa City - was one of the few places that were successfully defended during the siege, and is largely intact. The family did lose many of its sons and most of its wealth, however, and is a shadow if its former self, a living reminder that even high noble houses can fall deep.
The north-west quarters with their gates and bridges took the brunt of the attack those 136 years ago and were completely burnt down. After the attackers left, the survivors either fled into the countryside or began to rebuild, and thousands of dead are not easily disposed of, so the ruins of that quarter were turned into tombs, with dozens of bodies piled into each one and then stones or improvised roofs above them, to form what is today known as the Tombs of Deracussa. A memorial to the battle and the fallen as well as the densest graveyard in all of Auseka.
