Introduction
LiVid is short for "Linux Video and DVD Project", a set of programs to allow
video and DVD playback on the Linux operating system.
Since the DVD industry did not support Linux, and at least one case can be
documented where they did not even reply to an inquire for a CSS license for
a Linux player, the free-software project
was forced to reverse-engineer large parts of the DVD technology, including
the CSS encryption algorithm.
Current Status
The LiVid project is still in alpha at this moment and not yet usefull unless
you are a developer and want to contribute.
LiVid on the Web
The LiVid website used to be at http://www.linuxvideo.org, but that domain has since been taken over by a spammer.
