Hatorus would not be visible to travellers along the [[Phonas]] - [[Volgen]] road would they not enter the clear-cut area used for its fields for a short distance. The village has a population of only [[population::300]], most of whom are farmers or goat and sheep herders. While the goats are kept at the edge of the forest, the sheep are grazed on fallow fields along the trail connecting Hatorus to the main road.
