The battle of Kotera was Schap's last attempt to prevent a siege of the nearby town of Kotera. It happened in 24 AV.

Schap had brought 200 armored knights, 600 militia and 100 archers. The forces were led by Lord Protector Kesinki of Schaperach. Other Schap forces were fighting far to the west and could not be brought in time.

Fonticia had amassed 300 armored knights, 800 foot soldiers, 300 archers and 200 mercenaries. They were commanded by Earl Monfano of Faleri.

The battle was joined around noon, both armies having marched for two or three hours from their camps. While Schap forces initially had the better position, numbers soon turned against them and the superior experience of the Fontician forces, who were comprised entirely of professional soldiers while Schap had hastily recruited and armed peasants, resulted in a crushing victory for Fonticia.
