Direal is a mining village in Antioch, located just off the Imperial High Road, with a population of around 280 people.
The village is unusually dense and crowded, due to the fact that only a small part of its population are farmers and most of the people work in the nearby mines. There are two small mines just outside the village, one for lead and copper and one for iron ore. Some villagers also walk the about three kilometers to the Hiemegi Mine daily, prefering to live in the village over the even more crowded Hiemegium.
With the city so close, there is not much infrastructure in the village itself. Two cobblers and one tailor supply the residents, as well as a baker and a butcher. There are, however, two pubs as well as a distillery and the hard alcohol it brews is sold not just in Direal.
